The Taper-Lock allows the pedestal to be removed from its base and yet remain firmly in place when required. The bushing on the end of the post is molded from duPont Delrin, and is slightly tapered. The taper matches to the corresponding taper in the socket of the Taper-Lock Base. This allows the pedestal to fit snugly and disengage as needed. An additional feature is the locking "tab" which helps prevent the pedestal from turning and helps keep the post firmly secured.
